David Solomon’s real name is David Michael Solomon. He was born on 22 January 1962, in Hartsdale, New York, to Alan Solomon and Sandra Solomon. His father Alan was an executive vice president of a small publishing company, his mother was an audiology supervisor. He attended Edgemont junior-senior high school and completed his graduation with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College, Clinton. After his graduation he joined Irving Trust, after leaving Irving trust he joined several companies such as Drexel Burnham and Bear Stearns.

In 1999, he moved from Bear Stearns to Goldman Sachs. He works as a partner with a leveraged finance team. Later he served as a president, chief operating officer, and joint head of the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs. In 2018, he became the CEO of the company and chairman in 2019. David Solomon is the 8th oldest executive at Goldman Sachs Group Inc.
